A review published in the New
England Journal of Medicine (December 12, 2002 issue) found that evidence in
favor of conventional cancer treatment was unconvincing. The author
opted for unconventional cancer treatments, such as Gerson Therapy,
involving diet, supplements and detoxification.
The Moss Reports newsletter (1-16-05)
summarizes recently published research in Germany which shows that, for most
types of cancer, survival rate has not changed in the last 25 years.
According to the cancer registry of the University of Munich, while the
statistical curve for colon cancer shows a slight improvement, the survival
rate for breast cancer actually fell over the course of the years.
A more recent issue (3-5-06) describes
a meticulous study published in the journal "Clinical Oncology" which set
out to assess the actual survival benefit of chemotherapy. The authors
concluded that in the last twenty years a benefit of less than 5% has been
achieved in the treatment of breast, colon, head and neck cancers.
Median survival of lung cancer has increased by about two months.
Isn't it time to start using
treatments
that actually work?

Speaking of Breast Cancer, one of the risk
factors is exposure to radiation.
Mammography is an example of cumulative radiation
exposure that can
increase risk. There may be safer and more
accurate ways to screen for
cancer.

One additional suggestion:
If you have a serious illness, don't neglect
your own inner work. Understanding the mental and emotional components of
your condition can be the most important step toward healing.
