POSTPONED – NEW DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED

Learn how to use acupuncture meridians to empower your bodywork!

Our focus will be on applying acupuncture concepts to massage therapy assessment and treatment. We will learn some points but emphasis is on the meridian pathway itself. We will trace fourteen meridians and study the associated muscles, organs, emotions, and pathologies. If you keep hearing about meridians and wish you understood them better, this is a rare opportunity to increase your confidence and therapeutic effectiveness by spending two days immersed in them.

On the second day, we cover five categories of acupuncture points including entry and exit points, front mu and back shu points and command points. Working with these points will deepen our understanding and comfort level with the meridian pathways. It sounds like a lot of material but the content of this class is structured to meet the needs of massage therapists and other bodyworkers. Each segment is designed to enhance clinical results.

This seminar is a perfect complement to classes in muscle testing and Touch For Health Kinesiology. The material will also be very much appreciated by practitioners of chi gung or tai chi. The concepts and hands-on techniques are useful for anyone who is interested in meridians and health.

Bring:

A massage table if you have one. Something to write with (a study guide is included). Dress in layers (as always) since temperature may be difficult to control. We will not be disrobing in this class.

Continuing Education: 16 CE hours
  • Nationally Certified Bodyworkers (NCBTMB) and LMT’s in all the states that accept NCBTMB approval
  • Florida Massage Therapists (CE Broker Tracking #: 20-591507)

This is the first time I will have presented this brand new seminar. Since you will be helping me to discover any areas that could be improved, your price will be $100 less than the normal rate. I will be limiting the number of participants to maintain a relatively small group so please register early.

Prerequisites: NONE. This class is open to everyone. (Two or more years of hands-on experience is recommended)

Description

Welcome to the next step in refining your palpation and assessment skills! After reviewing highlights of Training Your Touch: Advanced Palpation Skills (Which is NOT a prerequisite for this class), we practice evaluating the nervous system and fascial body at various listening stations to identify stress or dysfunction. We will also explore osteopathic concepts that are key to understanding both assessment and treatment.

On the second day, we assess tension patterns and fascial pulls in the lower extremities, upper extremities, and spine. By applying what we have learned to different layers of tissue, we will literally be “following the fascia”. Finally, we pull everything together in order to practice assessment and treatment in groups of three. This class will expand your skill in any method of bodywork.
